25 Signs that, Sadly, You’ve Grown Up
Wed 27 Sep 2006 – 11.54
Or more appropriately, 25 signs you are no longer a university student. Damnit, we need to do the “out of college, now what” episode on the podcast. But, until then, check out this humourous, if not purile, list. Courtesy of this random website.
- Your house plants are alive, and you can’t smoke any of them.
- Having sex in a twin bed is out of the question.
- You keep more food than beer in the fridge.
- 6:00 AM is when you get up, not when you go to bed.
- You hear your favorite song on an elevator.
- You watch the Weather Channel.
- Your friends marry and divorce instead of hook up and break up.
- You go from 130 days of vacation time to 14.
- Jeans and a sweater no longer qualify as “dressed up.”
- You’re the one calling the police because those damn kids next door won’t turn down the stereo.
- Older relatives feel comfortable telling sex jokes around you.
- You don’t know what time Taco Bell closes anymore.
- Your car insurance goes down and your payments go up.
- You feed your dog Science Diet instead of McDonalds leftovers.
- Sleeping on the couch makes your back hurt.
- You no longer take naps from noon to 6 PM.
- Dinner and a movie is the whole date instead of the beginning of one.
- Eating a basket of chicken wings at 3 AM would severely upset, rather than settle your stomach.
- You go to the drug store for ibuprofen and antacid, not condoms and pregnancy tests.
- A $4.00 bottle of wine is no longer “pretty good stuff”.
- You actually eat breakfast food at breakfast time.
- “I just can’t drink the way I used to,” replaces, “I’m never going to drink that much again.”
- 90% of the time you spend in front of a computer is for real work.
- You drink at home to save money before going to a bar.
- You read this entire list looking desperately for one sign that doesn’t apply to you and can’t find one to save Your sorry old ass.
So, how would you, as a twentysomething, rate your own grown-up-edness? I’d say I’m pretty much there, although I don’t drink, so maybe I was never a kid to begin with. Or something.

The Internet: Worse Than Drinking
Wed 20 Sep 2006 – 16.42
According to Ars Technica, a study has emerged citing how Internet usage can be just as bad for your grades as a heavy drinking habit. Whether that is true or not remains up for some debate, but the more interesting questions is “Is Internet Addiction a real thing?”. Of course, the answer is yes. Because we say so.
Considering I don’t drink, my ratio of drunken time to surf time is zero, but what’s yours? Take a read, share your thoughts.

How to make more money at work
Tue 19 Sep 2006 – 8.22
Came across this list of 10 tips to make more money at work. Not a higher salary, per se, but other stuff that might help the bottom line. An interesting read, but not sure how many of these tactics will work at a 3-person company like the one I work for…

I’m always one to accept a geeky online sort of challenge thing, so I am taking up Melissa’s offer and blogging about Pottercast here on twentyhood.com. A bit out of order, I suppose, since this is a podcast about life as a twentysomething, but hey, let’s see what happens.
Leaky this week debuted their Video Gallery, which I have to say looks pretty cool. I am at work, of course, so I won’t have the chance to thoroughly comb through it, but I’m sure I will waste many an hour at some future point.
OK, HP geeks, come and find me!
(I will repost this message on divingtank.com as well.)

An interesting article about why [Law] Students should delete their MySpace page, as it could get them them in trouble. I’ve read stuff like this before, its common sense really. Personally, I would sooner fire someone for having a lethally ugly MySpace page, rather than having a photo or two of a beer.
And of course, here is a link to Scott’s MySpace page

Many of us younglings find it problematic when making the transition into the office workplace, especially from the uber-casual lifestyle of Universities. This is a bit of an understatement, and perhaps a topic that deserves some more attention.
But anyway, I came across an article on workplace fashion. And while generally I am not one to comment on fashion, I figures it worth a look. Most of these are common sense, but of course the people who wrote this were likely a bunch of corporate nazis anyway.

Scott is flying solo on this one. He talks about Podcasting in the news, plays a few songs, and even makes phone calls to Joaquin!
Shownotes coming soon. Sorry.
