Why Americans Keep Getting Fatter
Sat 23 Jun 2007 – 11.45

If asked “Why do Americans keep getting fatter?” the answer would seem obvious: it’s because we’re lazy, and we eat junk. Yes, that’s true, but why?
According to an article from AlterNet, it’s all part of the mismanagement by the Federal Government of farms, or as I like to call it, the Agro-Industrial complex. The Government has been issuing guidelines of that Americans should eat, but they fund exactly the opposite, and encourage (financially, that is) the growth and production of unhealthy foods.
According to the USDA Economic Research Service, the U.S. food supply has since ballooned by 500 calories per person per day, and per capita food consumption has increased by more than 200 calories per day — the equivalent of more than 20 pounds of fat per year.
I love random statistics.
