10 People You’ll Find at Every Gym

Work it out, girl

Many of us twentysomethings like to hit the gym after work or on weekends in an effort to maintain our youthful figures as long as possible. Gyms are bizarre places — all the wierdness of the office and school, but with far less clothing. The scents, sounds, and sights are unique, and we all have a story or two to share.

I came across this funny list of the 10 people you’ll find in any gym over at That’s Fit. Here’s a sample of the cheekiness:

3. Sparkle Motion – Remember the girls in college who used to get dressed to the hilt for an 8:00am class? Well, ten years later these same ladies are still going for cosmetic gold, primping and teasing their early morning glamour for a pre-work trip to the gym.

25 Things to Keep Off Your Résumé

January is a big-time recruitment season, so if you’re planning a change, time to brush up that résumé. But keep in mind these 25 tips of items to keep off. Here’s a sample:

25. Sarcasm: Sarcasm does not often translate well through business writing, and even if the hiring manager does get it, he or she probably won’t appreciate it. Résumés and the interview process are not appropriate outlets to release your offbeat irony, since you don’t know how it will be received and it’s just plain inappropriate.

11 Reasons Why Students Drop Out of College

Britney Goes to College

In spite of the above photo, this is a serious issue. Yes, there are more college graduates than ever before, but there are also a lot more dropouts. Men, especially black men, are prime candidates for dropping out. From GoCollege, comes 11 possible reasons why. Here’s a viable reason.

3. Academic unpreparedness. Sometimes, high school didn’t really prepare students for college. Other times, students slacked off in high school and paid the price during their post-secondary years. The high school goal was to pass (so that students could get into college); in college, it is to succeed.

And here’s one that I feel is a load of bollocks:

11. Time to move out. If the cold winter just doesn’t suit you, you may decide to go elsewhere. You may want to go closer to home or to be closer to a significant other.

Anyone who quits because of the weather doesn’t deserve a degree. You knew what you were getting into when you signed up for the University of Alaska.

Swearing at work boosts morale

Cursing at work

Fuck yea, it does! A new AP story discusses how swearing at work can lead to increased spirit and morale, building team pride and personal relationships. Makes sense to me — sometimes the only word for a given situation happens to be a curse, is that so bad? It’s just a matter of context, just like in the real world.

And don’t forget to check out the video of The View ladies talking about the subject. As usual, Elisabeth overreacts and agitates that stick up her ass.
