Why am I only finding out about this now? There’s an entire website devoted to tracking bloggers in their twenties. I imagine the site lets us all be social, as we’re generally a talkative bunch. And by talkative, I mean horny.

I’m gonna go poke around and see who I can discover. And yes, I’ll probably try to get some of them on the ‘cast.

I never stated it outright, but I basically stopped doing the podcast. My initial ambition was to do a weekly show. Then bi-weekly. Then monthly. Then 10 episodes per year. And in 2008, I only produced 3 episodes. So far in 2009 I haven’t even attempted the podcast.
The reason I stopped seems rather selfish but it’s also quite practical — too much effort for virtually no feedback. If anyone out there has ever tried to produce a podcast, you know where I’m coming from. And doing the operation by myself requires me to be the producer, host, webmaster, engineer, editor, and PR guy. That’s a lot of work for something that very often gets zero comments and downloads numbering something around 12. It’s hard to stay motivated when everyone has abandoned me.
But I was just randomly listening to selections from previous episodes, and these things are funny as hell. Maybe I should start recording more conversations in my life and posting them randomly. Fuck editing, fuck bookmarks. Just conversations. No topics, no re-dos. What do you we think?

Vote for twentyhood for the Podcast Awards!
Thu 23 Oct 2008 – 12.58

In an unexpected move that I find immensely flattering, twentyhood, the podcast about life as a twentysomething, has been nominated for a Podcast Award in the Culture / Arts category. This is a giant honour, and I appreciate everyone voting for us!
Head to the Podcast Awards site and cast your vote for twentyhood. Obviously, you can vote for other shows in other categories. You are allowed one submission per email address per day. (email confirmation req’d) So as they say in Pakistan, “vote early, vote often.” And tell your friends!
twentyhood is up against such stiff competition as This American Life (which, I have to admit, is a brilliant show), so every vote matters.
And yes, I understand the irony that the show got nominated in spite of not airing a new episode in several months. I am going to make the effort TODAY to edit an existing episode which has been collecting dust since April. Stay tuned!
Again, thanks for the nomination and for your votes. This is very humbling.

Do twentysomethings make resolutions? Most likely yes, but perhaps not with the same fervor as ‘adults’. It seems we are content to just exist, and we have a strange blindness when it comes to self-examination. While we may examine our waistlines, like everyone else, we seldom resolve to change our life to any large degree.
I include myself in the above blanket statement. As is the case with people I have spoken to recently, I resolve to achieve small, attainable goals rather than lofty shifts. And with twentyhood specifically (ie, the website and podcast) I have a few to numerate. So here’s to you, readers and listeners, helping me keep my resolutions.
Here are my plans to twentyhood for the year 2008:

As my little calendar will testify, it’s been several weeks since I’ve posted to this here blog. And we’ve been without a podcast for a while, as well.
But I have a good excuse. If you’ve been listening, you know I was training to run my first marathon, and this past weekend, I did. Check out my post from that day, and the day before.
It’s Thanksgiving week so I’ll be heading home tomorrow. This means I might actually have a minute to catch up adding some useful resources and articles on the blog. It also means that I will record a little something with my old friends. Till then, take care.

This past Sunday saw a spike in traffic to the twentyhood site, many of those visit coming via StumbleUpon. I’m not too familiar with the site, which is designed to let you share sites you’ve, um, stumbled upon. Apparently it’s a Firefox or Internet Explorer add-on of some kind.
So if you were part of, or responsible for the little bump in our popularity, please let me know by leaving a comment or sending an email. Does this have something to do with the most recent episode when I chatted with John January?
Either way, thanks for visiting, and tell your friends. Things have been hectic, but worry not — I’ve got loads of articles and things to post, so watch this space!

I’m renewing my efforts to promote twentyhood, and that means I’m going to submit this ‘cast to lots of directories and site having to do with blogs/podcasts. Not sure how many people use Odeo, but henceforth, you can check out twentyhood through that site and add the show to your feed, or what have you.
Have a look, explore the site, sign up, help promote twentyhood by claiming us “cool”, or whatever their ranking system may be, and let me know what’s the deal.

Somehow I didn’t notice, but this site looks awful! Did anyone notice that half the text is off in the margin and nothing is aligned properly. Why did no one tell me?
If you’re reading this in some sort of RSS reader, there will be no problems. Also, it displays fine in Safari, which is why I never noticed. And of course your iTunes podcast feed will be unaffected.
Bear with me, folks.
And don’t worry, this weekend I’ve got lots of blogging to catch up on.
Update:
I’ve solved the problem, it had to do with the post of that YouTube video on “How to Break Up With Your Girlfriend”. No idea why the video wouldn’t embed in the first place, but the link made things double sticky. Enjoy.

In the mode of my college days, when I would record these journal-like entries on a slightly-more-frequently-than-seasonal basis, here comes a bit of relfexion and thought on the state of things.
First things first. As you have no doubt noticed, I have become pretty active on my various blogs. At this point, I’ve got three up and running and I’m adding content to them multiple times a week. It’s nice to have all the content segregated by relevance in a very “lid for every pot” way. But what’s lacking from all three blogs is some quantity of original content, like this which I am writing at this very moment. Clearly, I have opinions on stuff — from design, to money, to life in the City, and being a twentysomething. Yet I don’t express it as much as I should. Nearly every article I read about promoting your blog/podcast says, very close to the top of the list, post often and consistently. That’s a challenge in and of itself, but making the content original and unique is just as much of a challenge, if not moreso.

I know, I know, I’ve been neglecting this site and podcast and of course the readers/listeners. I’m still with you, in spirit, anyway.
I’ve been saving up some stories and I’ll post them when I get a chance (they’ll likely be backdated, so scroll down the list) and whenever I can co-ordinate some guests, we should have another episode of twentyhood coming up soon. I missed a date, but I’ll try to make it up and resume the twice-a-month schedule.
As always, send us anything you’d like to hear, see, or feel. Send articles, links, songs, and anything else. Let’s make this interactive. And remember to tell your friends.
